OPI Russian Navy

When I looked at this in the bottle, I thought, "hmm, a less sparkly version of Ink", but I was wrong. In the bottle Russian Navy has a strong purple cast and doesn't seem very blue ... I was wondering why it was called NAVY. haha. :D
But once I put it on, the purple faded to the background and the glowy blue came out in full force. Lovely! :) This color is sophisticated and hot. Awesome.
I could have gotten away with 2 coats, but I used 3 anyways. As with all dark colors, the 3rd coat made it that much closer to black, so if you're trying to stay away from a blackened blue, use 2 coats.

  1. I love navy blue polish. I'm always looking for an old Revlon polish name Ink. It was deeper than this and a jelly. Haven't found the exact shadeyet.

  3. It's a fabulous colour...although dare I say it looks better in the bottle than on the nail - I always end up making it too dark. Am more of a fan of Yoga-ta Get This Blue if I need a blue fix.

  4. Helen - It IS hard to keep a dark color from getting overly dark ... but I really like this one! I wouldn't use it for a blue fix, I'd use Essie Mezmerize or China Glaze Carribbean Blue for that. Russian Navy is more for when you need a dark look but love blue. haha!

  5. Hmmmm...I have this and Ink on my list of 'to buys' from ebay but I really am not sure which to go for....which shines less blue, if that makes sense???

  6. Nikki - If you want a purpler instead of a bluer color, go with Ink for sure. Just be certain that you can handle a majorly shimmery, almost glittery polish! I know I can, but some ppl don't like shimmer so much.

  8. I just bought this polish and I love it. It's got great staying power and the color is very unique. A very dark navy blue with a little sparkle- in the office/day time it looks navy and in the dark it looks black. xoxoxox

  9. Oh and if you want to make it LAST LONG put Sally Hansen Salon Speed Shine 10 Day Top Coat over the top of the opi russian navy color- it will last 10 days and dry nearly instantly. I paid 8.60 for the opi polish and 6 dollars for the sally hansen top coat. Not too bad for perfect nails that will last 10 days.

Well, I will have to try the Sally Hansen top coat. Right now I'm a faithful follower of Seche Vite. :)
