An Indigo Moon

The other day All Lacquered Up posted about the moon manicure trend and I got inspired. They're on the Fall runways, but I don't really care if I'm seasonally correct in my manicures ... I just like to do what makes me happy. ;)
Here is my first attempt at a moon manicure. I used one of my new Zoyas, Indigo. If you click on the picture you'll see how very very messy the moons are, but practice makes perfect and I haven't had any practice. haha! I'm pretty happy with the look, especially since I normally despise all forms of nail art.
Indigo is a lovely dark blue. In the bottle it's got this amazing rainbow glitter (I'm pretty sure it's not holographic) that, unfortunately, does not show up on the nail very well. :( You can see a couple of little sparkles, but not too many. Boo! It may be that the glitter goes WHAM in the sun, but I wouldn't be able to tell you that since there's been no sun in Houston for the past 4 or 5 days.
This is also my first foray into Zoya territory. I'm pretty satisfied with the application. Zoya is Big 3 Free (no Formaldehyde, DBP, or toluene), but their polish is neither too thick or too runny. Yay Zoya! I only needed 2 coats to achieve nice even coverage.

  1. I can see the glitter when I enlarge the picture. Nice job anyway!
