OPI Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous

Here, at last, is the other polish I bought from the OPI Swiss collection, Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous (can we please have a collective groan for that name?). Its punny name aside, LLM is a beautiful silvery dark gray shimmer/foil. I don't think it quite qualifies as a foil, as the shimmer isn't as overwhelming as a foil tends to be.

This color is both celebratory and quiet, and makes me think of downtown Christmas lights reflected in sidewalk puddles. I think it would work marvelously for occasions that need something sophisticated and yet it also works for something that you would wear holographic glitter eyeliner to.

LLM doesn't have super great wear, but it doesn't do terribly either. I believe I got around 2 or 3 days before any chipping, so it doesn't wear like a glitter or anything. All in all, I've been liking this quite a lot for winter, and want to pair it with black tights and sweaters. I'm also contemplating it for my New Year's manicure, although I think I might want something a bit more over-the-top.

OPI Stars in My Eyes

Mm, look at what I found in my mother's bathroom? OPI Stars in My Eyes, from the 2007 Holiday in Hollywood collection. I grabbed it and ran to put it on and then put it in *my* nail polish collection. Oh, the joys of stealing from one's mother! ;)

SiME is a lovely (and work appropriate!) rather sheer silver shimmer. Except it's not an in-your-face silver shimmer... it's more refined than that. I think of this on some glamorous personage wearing black and diamonds living in restrained elegance. I used four coats to get this level of opacity, but it actually looked great at one coat, just far too sheer for me. In fact, this polish didn't get streaky or uneven during any of my 4 coats, which is wonderful.

And the strength of this stuff! I had it on for 4 days before tip wear appeared, much less chipping. I was very impressed. When I took it off after 5 (or was it 6? I can't remember.) days it was simply because I felt like a new color, not because it was chipped all over the place. I also couldn't keep my eyes off of my hands the whole time I wore this - I kept marveling at the beautiful color, and at the wonderful way it set off my hands. It made my fingers look longer and slimmer, always a nice thing (I play piano so much that my fingers are weirdly muscular, and extra length always looks good. :)).

The verdict: 5 out of 5 stars.

Yet More Wizard of Ooh Ahz

Alright dearests, here we have another Wizard collection polish - Ten Man. It took me awhile to figure out why in the world it was called Ten Man, but then I realized; ten fingers. Ohhhh.

Ten Man is a wonderful light silver with lots of small round silver glitter stuck in. It sparkles like snow. It reminds me a bit of Zoya Ginessa, but is, of course, silver instead of white. And I don't much like Ginessa, whereas I love Ten Man. New favorite glitter silver!

I think it is interesting how these polishes have their glitter just lightly dotting the formula, instead of the glitter overtaking the polish completely - it is like it is simply accenting the pretty polish. :) There are 4 of this kind of glitter in the collection, and then 2 all out in-your-face glitters - Ruby Pumps and Dorothy Who?.

The only problem I had with Ten Man (and Good Which?) is the wear and tear of the formula. Both polishes chipped on me within 2 days; kind of annoying. However, they are pretty enough for me to forgive that. :)

OMG, y'all!

It is very weird that I haven't posted about OMG yet ... I have no idea why. I've worn it several times, but never deigned to take a picture of it. Whatever. OMG is from the China Glaze OMG collection of 2008, an entire collection of holos. It is a very fantastic collection. The holo is very fine, you can't really see the particles at all. OMG is, as you can see, silver holo. There's a huge amount of holo packed in there ... it's almost blinding in the sun. Awesome.
My only complaint with the OMG collection is that the formula is weird. You have to wait for each coat to dry completely before adding another coat, and then you have to work quickly and without mistakes, or else the polish comes off instead of going on. Ooops. ;)

Zoya Trixie

Hello ladies, so sorry to have abondoned you these last few days! I've been so busy that I literally haven't been online since Saturday. :S
I have Trixie for y'all today, a fantastic reflective silver with a foil finish. It's so shiny and silvery that it almost looks like I stuck aluminum foil over my nails. I love it.
Trixie had Zoya's signature application, smooth and flawless. I used 3 coats, but probably could have used 2.
I stupidly put this on the night before I went to the beach, and it was wrecked in the first 1/2 hour after I got to the beach ... the sand and surf really do a number on your nails!
